Major repair works are required to repair and stabilise the pinnacles of the iconic tower of St Michael’s, a prominent feature of the Teignmouth skyline.
Additionally, following the church’s last Quinquennial Inspection, other major building works are required to repair the fabric of the building and preserve if for future generations.
The total costs of these works are estimated to be in the region of £500,000.
There is no funding available from the Church of England and so the cost of the works falls to the local church community. The PCC has limited resources and no money to fund the works and so it is necessary to launch a major appeal to raise funds and seek grant funding.
