A Timely Gift

As part of our regular Christmas giving, St James' PCC recently made a gift to Operation Imprezza (a UK charity which supports Imprezza Academy, a secondary school in Western Region, Kenya that provides education for children in poverty).

We received this reply from Chris Hulme almost immediately:

"That is fantastic, thank you so much. Already spoken for/spent!!  An NGO in Western Kenya has just closed down, their sponsor died, and they offered us 40 beds, mattresses and bedding, computers, sewing machines, desks, chairs etc etc. We obviously "grabbed" it and then wondered how to pay for it.  It was an offer we could not refuse, we have managed to buy all this for about 1/10 of actual value.  They just wanted their bills cleared.  Your donation has gone into this project.  With the ongoing covid restrictions in Kenya until we were offered these extra beds we were going to have to reduce numbers to comply with spacing.  A lot of our current beds are actual double deck bunks  so either the top or bottom bunk cannot be used currently due to additional spacing requirements.  We are allowed to use classrooms as additional temp dormitories at night and we can put these beds in those rooms.

Thank you again, isn't Gods timing fantastic?  Please pass on our thanks to everyone and Seasons Greetings from all at Imprezza both in Kenya and Devon. Catherine has specifically asked to be remembered to everyone and hopes, when travel is normal again, top see you all again.

Chris"
